国际教育教学委员会董事会成员李老师曾在美国公立和私立高中任教多年，他认为，以韩国、台湾小留学生的留美经历为参照，低龄留学高峰期会保持20年左右。自美国2008年对中国开放中小学留学签证开始，按照惯例，这一高峰期还可持续10多年。某留学机构的负责人廉总表示，低龄留学生在社会文化、语言、学习和未来工作模式等方面更加国际化，未来也会带来汇总过更多了解国际准则，掌握最新思想和技术的人才。该留学机构每年对送出去的小留学生和家长进行后续的追踪和反馈，16年来的经验和数据表明，基本以上的家长和学生对于在这个阶段出国留学并没有后悔，而且他们认为他们做了一个非常正确的决定。

事实上，在申请国外大学的过程中，如果孩子在美国接受了高中教育，对那边的语言和文化能够有一些认同，推荐信也是国外高中提供的，那么，相对来说在大学申请人当中就会占有优势。因此也有教育专家认为，若孩子的未来仍要延续性地在国外学习，那么低龄留学确实有好处。然而，一组来自某心理咨询中心的数据却触目惊心。从2009年到2012年，该心理咨询中心一共接待了57名因留学出现了心理问题的孩子；2013年这一数据升到72人，2014年为112人，2015年为157人。临床心理学专家王大夫提到，从心理发展的角度，一个孩子要面临一个新的环境，开始一段新的旅程，一定要考虑四个方面的发展。第一，他的身体是否已经到了基本稳定健康的状态。第二，要看一个孩子的人际关系，他是否具备自己组建和控制自身的一些资源、建立良好关系的能力。第三，要看孩子的自我成就。第四，要考虑这个孩子的内心对未来、对人生的意义有没有一定的想法。如果一个孩子在这些方面都没有一定的想法，全部都是爸爸妈妈来做主，或者我们问一个十二三岁的孩子想不想留学，他说想，其实这都是伪命题，因为孩子并不理解你说的这个问题的意义。
